Sweat
Sam Hill in West Memphis, AK -
When you get ready to go to bed, just put on a pair of sweatpants and a warm shirt. Then you will sweat out all the harmful toxins in your body. One night should work, but if not not, try one more night.

Eat garlic!
Jasper in Garlicville, USA -
The cold virus hates garlic. Make you a garlic sandwich.
Thinly slice some garlic, spread it out on a slice of bread, top with a slice of cheese, and grill like you are making a grilled cheese. Delicious!
Or put some butter in a skillet. Thin slice some garlic in the pan. Stir and move garlic to side while browning the bread (like toast) Take out the bread, scoop on the cooked garlic and eat.
Garlic pills don't work, you gotta eat the real stuff.
(great before you go to the dentist too, Hahaha)
The best cure is to stay away from people that have colds and are sneezing on ya.

Eat more cranberries
Carol in CT -
Cranberries grow easily in New England, especially in the
Northeastern states. They are nutricious and have a very high Vitamin C content.
The American colonists used to take them to snack on the ships to prevent scurvy.
Why is cranberry juice so popular in the Fall? Not only because that is when they ripen, but more than likely, because you need additional vitamin C to keep away colds.
So start drinking some fresh cranberry juice early in the Fall, when the weather starts changing.

Cold remedy
Amanda in Michigan -
Increase your intake of acidic foods like pickles and tomatoes. That always seems to work for me. You have to change the acidic level in your body.
Sometimes I just have a sip of pickle juice everyday.
