Milk and Honey cure can make it WORSE

Anonymous in Anytown, AT 55555 - best
I tried the milk and honey remedy last night, and by this morning I was so much worse. I went to the Doctor and they told me that if it's a viral form Pink Eye, or a bacterial form of Pink Eye, you make it worse because bacteria grows rapid in sugar, and milk and honey are full of sugar. You should not use this method becuase you can make it MUCH, MUCH worse. I now have to have a antibiotic drops every 2 hours.

Also I read a remedy for Apple cider vinegar. Do not use...the acidic nature of this can make you go blind.

Never try home remedies with your eyes. You can cause a lot of damage very easy.

Make sure you research these remedies before you try them. I sure wish I did.

Milk, Honey, and Baby Shampoo

ChocolateAndMathDon'tMix in IHateMathTown, USA - best
Okay, so, I have Pink Eye. I woke up today with gunk on my eye and my mom said "Yup,you've got Pink Eye. Keep a pack of hand sanitizer nearby and clean the doors with it after you use them." Makes sense because my lil sis has it and we share a room. Last time I had it we used breast milk and it knocked that suckka out! Unfortunatly the baby is now weaned so I came here for a solution.

I saw Mrs. Delilah's remedy about Milk and Honey and the Hawaii Lady about Baby Shampoo so I combined it:

1. Wash your eye out with Baby Shampoo, make sure you get the tear ducts, eyelashes, and around the eye as much as possible. If you only have one infected eye, do it with both anyway. Make sure you so it with separate cloths so you don't infect the other eye.

2. Mix the same amount of honey and milk (SoyMilk and AlmondMilk work just as well) in a cup or bowl (i.e. 1 TBSP Milk and 1 TBSP Honey. Mix it realy well so that it's a sort of tan or beige liquid. You do not want honey clumps in that mixture.

3. Take the standard cottonball (q-tips work too, though not as well because they don't drip. Dip into the mixture and squeeze drop into the eye. It'll sting just about the same as if you had poked your eye. I'd say do this every half hour (everything, shampoo cleanse and milk & honey). Leave the honey and milk in your eye until the next washing. The relief is INSTANT, your eyes might look a little redder at first but that's because they're thinking "What the heck? There's HONEY in me!"

Tip: The remedy above should clear you up by the next day. The most it should take is three days.

Another Tip: You can actually get Pink Eye from substances getting in your eye (i.e. Sawdust, I got mascara in my eye) In that case, wash out your eye with water or Baby Shampoo and water every hour or half hour.

Squenching eyes together successful in temporary relief

I will not touch my eyes, but I will squench them in Massachusetts - three stars
Begin by finding a spot on the wall. Stare at this spot for five seconds. Then, focusing on your eye muscles, squench your eyes shut as tightly as possible without breaking a blood vessel. Continue squenching for 15 second intervals. This squenches out the goo and serves as a comforting placebo.

NATURAL STUFF

OK well first get a cup, add warm water about half way, add a little bit of dry rice, add a pinch of sugar, add about a tablespoon of milk, mix gently with spoon, it should be warm. Now get a thin cloth, dip it in the cup and place on top of the eye..I know it sounds gross but it totally removes pain, itch and all the crazy bacteria...trust me I used to think it was gross too.

Plain honey+sensible washing

Kate in Portland, Oregon USA - best
I tried the honey remedy because it looked so simple and teabag remedies never seem to work for me. But you cant just put a drop in the eye before bed and and expect that to work (which I suspect is why so many people say it didn't work for them) you have to wash the eye out throuroughly and make sure there are no germs in there.

I first wash my entire face with antibacterial soap, then wash out one eye at a time with water. Treat each eye as if it is the only one infected, you don't want to give either eye more germs (if only one eye appears infected, do both anyways.) In between washing eyes, wash your hands with the antibacterial soap again. Use a tissue to get all the gunk out of your eyes. Then carefully drip a drop of honey into your eye (as if it was an eyedrop) It will sting a bit but not too badly. Do the same with the other eye, then after a minute repeat washing them out with water.

Make sure you keep the tissue handy and constantly patrol getting the gunk out of your eyes, it will just reinfect them. Once your eyes are clean again smear a little more honey in the eye and esp the tearduct (to make sure the honey fully reaches all the infection). I did this right before bedtime and smeared honey in and around my lashline as well. I had a moderate case of pinkeye and my eyes were totally normal in the morning after I washed the honey off.

Okay, so I got pink eye (I have no idea how). Well it started to burn and stuff, so first I got a hot paper towel (I soaked it in hot water) and that didn't work. I moved on to cold, I got a paper towel and soaked it in cold water than I filled it up with ICE, I layed over my eye and after about 10-15 min I looked in the mirror and half of the red was gone!!! I kept on doing that and after a few min all of the red was gone(: Try This!!! its veryyy easy!! Give it a shot*(:

Milk and honey eye wash

Delilah Segura in Lubbock, Texas - best
Whenever my child has pink eye, I mix equal amts of honey and milk and soak a cotton ball half wet and "drip" solution into affected eye several times a day. It will sting, but it will kill the infection as honey is a natural antiseptic. Usually starts to clear up in 10-12 hours. Be sure and use a new cotton ball for each treatment so as not to reinfect your eye.

Rice

Gwyn Wise in Hickory, NC - best
I took a bag of minute rice placed it dry into microwave for about 1 minute. Wraped it in a washcloth and placed over my eye. I kept it there until it cooled off. When I took it off not only had the swelling gone down but the ichy, burning, pain had also stoped. I did this 3-4 times a day for 2 days and my pink eye was gone. I'm not going to say this will work for you but it did for me when the tea bags, salt water and over the counter eye drops didn't. Good luck.

Baby Shampoo

Kalegrace in Kauai, Hawaii - best
If you wash your eye out with baby shampoo or baby body wash it will wash out the bacteria and wont hurt your eye because it is tear free because it is used on babies.
