I applied the ointment to my eyelashes, & outer eye lids, with a Q tip as suggested by others here. IMMEDIATE RELIEF!! And it stopped my blurred vision...The relief has lasted for hours...
Next I'm going to try the green tea bag on the eyes,
that seems to be the most recommended thing here for a cure.
I will keep you posted with my findings.

Semen
Tim Jensen in Here -
Some people on this site have been saying that breast milk works perfectly for getting rid of pink eye. This is a true statement: breast milk does in fact work. You see, it works by making the eye tear up without further adding to the infection by using the sterile breast milk, washing the eye out with natural tears more or less.
I figured, since breast milk works, other bodily fluids would as well! So I tried curing my ailment of pink eye using urine, which is also sterile and makes the eye tear up. Unfortunately, the stagnant urine (for I did not wash my eye out after dabbing a cotton ball soaked in urine into my eye) worsened the effect of my pink eye.
I decided urine does not work, but moved on to the next bodily fluid that would be most appropriate: semen. Long story short, it burns really badly, but it works about 10% of the time (as long as you also flush with lemon juice, warm water, etc.), plus it's fun to produce. So vote yes for semen!

Lemon drops
Anonymous in pomona, ca -
Its not a remedy for pink eye but for the discharge that accumilates... I usually put a small drop of lemon in my eye ( yes it burns) and it happrends to gather the mucous to the corner and you just wipe it away with a clean rag or q-tip...

Lemon Juice
Karen in Kingston, WA USA -
Alright, I know this sounds scary and maybe even a little bit masochistic, but equal parts distilled water and lemon juice always does the trick for me. It hurts like Hell and I have to do the "Holy Crap My Eyes Are Burning Out of My Skull" dance for a few minutes, but within 20 minutes my nasty case of both eyes having very bad pink eye went almost completely away. My friend and fellow massage therapist has been using natural home remedies for himself and his 4 children for years and years and he swore by it. Good luck, I hope this helps.

Contact lens solution/tea bags
Jessy in Wisconsin -
Put 1 drop of contact lens solution in the affected eye(s). Then put 1 hot tea bag on the eye(s). Put 1 more drop in the eye(s). Do this every 30 minutes. I find it easier to heat some water in a mug and stick 2 tea bags in it. I just set it and the contact lens solution by my bed and do it every 30 minutes. Also, remember to wash your hands afterwards...I just use hand sanitizer.

Ol' Soviet Solution
Jason in San Francisco, CA -
Potassium Permanganate(KMnO4)(Purple grainy crystal powder thing) Well my grandma treats this stuff as a cure all for throat, fungus, and eye irritations, but it actually works for the latter. I spent the entire day, yesterday, squirting pink eye puss out of my eye and couldn't take it. Went to sleep and woke up with my eyes cemented shut. I then woke up, took a TINY bit of the remedy and dissolved it in warm water. Make sure it isn't strong and looks like a faint pink. When you get about a glass full you just put the rim under your eye. Bring the glass up and open your eye when its in the solution. I haven't had puss or discomfort for the last 6 hours. Repeat process when necessary

Breast milk and cleaning gunk out--don't wear contacts
Pauline in AZ -
My baby daughter got pink eye and I put drops of fresh breastmilk in her pink eye and it went away on its own. When I looked into the risks of pinkeye, blindness was of course one, but occurred mainly in newborns and people in comas and people who wear contacts--what do they have in common? My best guess is newborns sleep a ton and have their eyes closed a ton and so do people in comas and people who wear contacts with pinkeye is like having an eye lid over your eye. So that gunk that comes with pinkeye is just sitting in that closed eye or underneath the contact (this is my best guess)--so it is important to clean gunk out with a warm wet washcloth (probably not a good idea to duct tape your eye shut as that one guy suggested lol!), use a clean wash cloth every time, don't itch it because that will just further irritate it, get plenty of fresh air into the eye (normal opening and closing is sufficient!) and possibly breastmilk if you have some--worked for us and went away just fine--took a few days but we needed no antibiotics or over the counter (toxic!) medicines.

Breast Milk
Katrina in New Jersey -
I am really startled that anyone interested in natural remedies for pink eye would balk at using breast milk. This is SO STANDARD for anyone who has even the most basic knowledge of home remedies; and to dispute it is, in my opinion, as ignorant as not knowing that the sun is warm?!?!?!
Bottom line:
There is NO better remedy for pink eye than dropping fresh breast milk into the eye. It literally vanishes by the second application.
Problem:
Breast milk is not readily available to everyone suffering with pink eye.
It is a "bodily fluid" and people may be apprehensive to use another's milk---
I totally respect that.
But PLEASE---if you are making milk and have pink ye---or your child has pink eye---please do not let them suffer with it---
Give up the milk!

Sneeze!!:)
SmallTownGirl in Canada -
I get pink eye randomly. It's not a fun time, I'll tell you that much. However. I find when I make myself sneeze the pink eye slowly goes away. The puffy-ness doesn't die down too much. however, the redness will be gone and less noticeable. So then you can go out and buy something for puffy eyes. Sounds pretty ridiculous. But it works:D

ACV WATER AND SALT
Jay in Georgia -
I was just reading this and the acv water and salt made sence to me. I mixed about a cup of water with about 2 tbsp ACV and tsp iodized salt(the iodine is an antiseptic(dont mix idodine in!!!)) my daughter and I both have pink eye so I experimented on myself first. After about 5 minutes of holding my knees and moaning in pain, I notice there was about 70% less redness(salt as an astrigent) and virtually no pain. IT WORKS!!
unfortunately I'm going to have to find an alt for my daughter.

Neosporene and Seasonal Relief Visine
Sharlee in Lahaina, HI, USA -
I was in so much pain yesterday. Both eyes were a mess. I tried the green tea thing and got no relief. It might have been different if I had waited until the next morning to see what would have happened over night, but I was in too much pain to chance it. So, I got some neo and eye drops. I got the neo with pain relief in it as well and within a half hour my pain was down by at least 50% and today it is down to something barely noticable. I will do the treatment today as well and have great hopes it will be cleared up by tomorrow!
