Bladder Pain
Becky in NC -
I've had bladder problems (cystitis) for years brought on mostly from sensitivities to coffee/tea/chocolate. I've tried Azo Standard, Urised (prescription medicine) and cranberry capsules but for me none worked as good as three Ibuprofens. Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory medication which decreases the irritation in the bladder. I've also found that Alka-Seltzer works too but I prefer Ibuprofen.

3 household ingredients that give immediate relief
Renee in Canada -
I suffer from chronic bladder and kidney infections, more often then most, every 2-4 weeks. I have tried changing everything from clothing, diet, and daily routines. Nothing worked, doctors kept trying to push a daily preventative antibiotic but I don't believe that medication should be preventative. That's when I found this website. Those of us who have suffered with these infections before are often able to tell when we are going to get the infection, so I was able to find relief before or as soon as it the pain and frequency started.
1. 1/2 table spoon of baking soda dissolved in warm water. Drink.
2. 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt dissolved in warm water. Drink.
3. Take 1000 mg of vitamin C.
All things most of us have around the house and relief comes within 20 minutes.
Hope it works as well for you!

asparagus
Moni in Michigan -
I'm really surprised that no one has posted about this yet. I've had my share of UTI's or bladder infections. I guess they are pretty much the same thing. Burning urination and really painful in the bladder area. I used to have to always go to the Dr. in order to get rid of these. Then I started getting them with my last pregnancy and didn't want the meds. I read somewhere online that eating asparagus and drinking the water it was cooked in was prescribed by Dr's in Germany as it's a natural source of sulfur. I don't know if that's true but I tried it and it worked for me. I've used it several times. The pain goes away or is drastically reduced by the next day and I save myself a Dr's visit. I've used fresh cooked and canned. The easiest way is just to open a 12 oz can of asparagus eat as much of the pieces as I can and then hold my nose and drink the water it's packed in. Usually all it takes is one can but sometimes I need a second one the next day to totally get rid of the pain. Eating asparagus does make peoples urine smell funny and apparently it washes out infection too. Oh yeah and make sure you're drinking enough water. Drinking water is not the cure but it is healthy and can prevent it from coming back.

Uva Ursi, D-manossse, AZO standard
Don in Austin -
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned UVA URSI. Its a natural herb. Supposed to not only treat bladder infection, but cure it. Definately google this herb. Theres surprising information about it.
1. Get AZO standard. This does not cure UTI, just helps with pain. Only take for 2 days.
2. At same time, start uva ursi. Take for several days. Do not take for more than 2 weeks. Do not take cranberry or vitamin C while taking uva ursi. The herb makes your body alkaline, and the citrus and fruits make it acidic, which cancels out the affects of uva ursi. Take 3-4k mg a day.
4. D-Manosse. take every 3 hours. about 2.5g.
3. Get some AZO test strips after a few days and you can see if you have a UTI at home.
I'm only 2 days into my routine, trying to avoid antibiotics.

Vitamin C
Diane in Camarillo, CA -
Taking 1000 MG a day will cure this painful infection. Almost immediately. It truly worked for me and no more doctor visits for a urine sample and medicine. I take 1000 MG of vitamin C daily to prevent it from happening again.

Orange juice & salt
Vicki in Homeland, CA -
I came to this page in desperation only this morning and only had on hand, one of the many suggestions, which happened to be orange juice and salt. Instant relief of pain! I only drank a small dixie cup and the pain was gone and I was back on track. I still plan on going to the doctors, since I doubt this would cure it, but works far better then any over the counter products for UTI pain. Awesome!!

Home remedies hide but dont cure UTI's
watkins in Tennessee -
Forget cranberry juice and Azo standard, cranberry juice does not cure an UTI, a real UTI means you have bacteria in your urine, this means you need to kill the bacteria, fruit juice is not the same as an antibiotic and anyone who claims cranberry juice or AZO standard cured their UTI probabley did not really have one, let me explain.
AZO is really an antiflamatory, helps relax the bladder muscles and you urinate with ease and the analgesic prevents pain in uretha but does not cure the infection.
Most bladder infections start with yeast infections in vagina. Using yeast infection cream as a preventive measure every now and then can prevent UTI's. If you cannot afford a doctor, sulfa powder in small doses can be a preventative measure. You can also buy sulfa drugs at your local farm and feed store used in livestock, for emergency use if you have to, until, you get to a doctor if it is serious. But sulfa drug is the main cure for UTI's. Do your research. Sometimes too many carbonated drinks can cause an irritation you think is UTI, stay away from carbonated drinks, and also taking coral calcium can help with acid build up in body which mimics UTI's, acid buildup in body can cause all sorts of health issues too.
In the old days meds like antibiotics and pain meds were available to anyone without a doctors prescription. These days we are led to believe we should not treat ourselves and go to a doctor instead, BS! I say, in the old days there were few doctors and few who could afford one if he was around and people did quite well treating themselves with meds that were bought over counter.
Now we are told to do nothing, don't treat yourself, if you cannot afford a doctor you should suffer, How insane is that? I would rather do something than nothing! because the FDA tells me I need to pay a doctor and then pay for prescriptions I don't need. It is all about making money. Sulfa drugs are natural and easy to obtain. One more thing, high blood sugar also causes bladder infections, keep sugar level under control.

Natural Remedies ease bladder infection symptoms...
Sabrina in Netherlands -
I've had a bladder infection the past week, and I turned to this website because I'm very interested in natural remedies. I went to my closest health store and got cranberry pills with d-mannose and it worked very well to ease my symptoms and pretty much get rid of them, however still feeling some discomfort I went to the doctor..and the bacteria was very much still there..So in my case I learned that the natural cures were good to ease my symptoms, but did not help to rid me of the infection, which one should really not take lightly because it can spread to your kidneys if not properly cured!

warm water and baking soda nuetralizer
Ruth in Manitowoc, WI usa -
When that familiar burning starts, I put about 1/4 tsp. of baking soda in a glass of warm water, stir and drink it. In 5 minutes the burning ceases. I can stand the infection until I try the other remedies. Urinating is painless also after drinking this.
