Tried everything - this works every time
Anonymous in Los Angeles, CA USA -
I've had chronic UTIs (I'm talking once every one to two MONTHS) for the past 11 years. Lately, it's down to a few times a year because I've learned how to prevent them.
So here's what's worked for me:
1. To prevent a bladder infection, I just take a cranberry extract supplement each day (CranMax is good). I find it's hard for me to drink enough unsweetened cranberry juice to make an impact. If you've had chronic UTI's in the past as I've had, part of the problem is also that your bladder is torn and bleeding from past infections, so for that I add d-mannose as well so that over time, my bladder heals.
My problem however is in my busy life I often forget to take these every day, and then WHAM there's a bladder infection! So...
2. To stop immediate pain (this does not cure it, but numbs you to the symptoms) get Azo-Standard. Not their cranberry supplement but their main product that deadens all symptoms and pain. Again, this doesn't cure the infection and your urine will turn a BRIGHT orange.
3A. I recently found an excellent D-Mannose formula designed to cure bladder infections. It's called "U.T. Vibrance Crisis Intervention Formula." I got it at Whole Foods. It should be available at your local health food store or online. Get it and follow the directions. Yes, it's $34.00 but it's worth it.
3B. If you can't get the crisis intervention formula, here's what I recommend that also works for me...
Every 3 waking hours, take 5 grams of D-Mannose. I get the powder, so with 2 grams per teaspoon, I take 2 1/2 teaspoons every 3 hours. I drink 3 liters of water as quickly as I can over the course of the day - more if I can stand it. I'm not a fan of any sweetened juices because those have digestible sugars that allow more yeast and unfriendly bacteria to grow in your body. But that's just my personal preference.
Along with the D-Mannose, I take 2 - 3 grams of cranberry extract one to two times a day.
Keep in mind that even once the pain goes away, the bacteria may not be completely gone and the UTI can flare up again the next time its aggravated (such as during intercourse, extreme exercise, etc.).
So even when the pain is gone in the first 24 hours, I recommend continuing this regimen for about a week - just like you would with antibiotics (ewww!) even after the pain has subsided.
This information changed my life once I discovered it through trial and error. These UTIs have been the bane of my existence and I'm so glad to see real help out there. My doctors had told me my only hope was to go on proactive antibiotics, meaning a low dose of them EVERY DAY. Can you imagine?
And all I needed was D-Mannose!
A little bit of sugar helps the medicine go down. :)

So I woke up this morning with a weird sensation when I peed, and over the course of 4 really frequent urinations it escalated from slightly unusual to full blown pain when I pee with blood in it. I did a lil research and ran to the store to pick up some d-mannose with cranActin (the brand is solaray), CranAid tea by traditional medicinals (instead of cranberry juice straight up I figured it was more concentrated plus it has a ton of herbs good for urinary health and healing) some vitamin C and goldenseal to fight the infection and this stuff thats called Kombucha tea by a brand called synergy. Kombucha is a raw drink made from various cultures. Its got a STRONG taste that you just have to force yourself thru but by the end of the bottle you get used to it. Its good for balancing your body and has enzymes and probiotics in it and it comes mixed with different fruit juices, if you wish, so I got the cranberry mix. its been 3 hours since I started drinking everything and taken everything and I've got to say the blood appears to have disappeared and the pain has gotten significantly less. I hope this helps someone out!

Probiotics
Ashley in Fresno, Ca -
I have suffered for the past year from chronic bladder infections... (at least one a month).
I have tried so many things, and nothing has worked, except for probiotics.
I found probiotics at a health food store. It was a high dose, 50 billion live cultures.
My bladder infection went completely away after two days.

Lemonade

When I first start to get the symptoms I drink lemonade but instead of sugar use salt (gross but does the trick) may work more effectively if you drink it hot/warm.

Root Beer
Anonymous in Tennessee -
I have suffered from bladder infections since I was a child. Once I felt the burning coming on and I was not at home or anywhere I could get cranberry juice (only soda machines) someone told me to drink some Root Beer (which was in the soda machine) . It does not cure a bladder infection but it temporarily numbs the burning until you can get other help. It sure worked!

I agree about D-mannose and...
Ella McBroome in Seattle, WA -
I have always drunk buckets of natural, unsweetened cranberry juice sweetened with a bit of apple cider at first sign of a UTI. It has worked pretty well over the years, but last year a worker at a vitamin shop recommended that I ALSO take a D-mannose capsule each day, I was blown away by how swiftly and completely the infection disappeared. I agree with the previous poster and highly recommend this supplement. (Don't know the brand name but I think the product was called D-Mannose with CranActin.)

100% Grape Juice - Purple
mlj3 in Tuscaloosa, AL -
I get a UTI about once every 1-2 years. As soon as those horrible uncomfortable symptoms of a UTI begin, I find at least a 20oz. bottle of Welch's 100% pure grape juice. I drink the whole bottle within a few minutes and hold my urine as long as I can. It burns this first time, but after that I have no other s/s of the UTI. Cranberry juice doesn't work for me as it does for some, but the 100% grape juice (purple) has never failed me. I've never taken an antibiotic for a UTI.
I have done this since I was a teenager, for over 20 years, and it has worked every time.

At first sign 1000 mg vitamin C, make tea from Jamaica flower (dark red). Dilute this tea to make a pitcher, add sugar if needed. Drink this pitcher in one day. Can drink hot or cold.

D-Mannose
Kristy in USA -
This is by far the greatest bladder infection cure I've ever taken! You can get it at a health food store or online from several different places.
It is a sugar that your body can't really digest so it goes directly into your urinary tract (Kidneys/bladder/the works) and the bacteria causing the UTI attaches itself to the sugar rather than your body and flushes the bacteria out the next time you urinate.
I suffer from re-ccuring UTI's (at least once a year) but ever since I found this cure, it is no longer a painful problem. D-mannose will work for about 90% of bladder infections out there (because not all UTI's are caused by bacteria)so if you have a bladder infection, this will probably work for you. It changed my life, and it can change yours too!
D-mannose is about $10.00, and if you feel a bladder infection coming, just take one a day for a few days and that's it!
Google D-mannose for better information. It's amazing!
