Warm towel or cloth for your ear or toothache

Anonymous in Hickory HIlls, IL USA - best
My son had a terrible earache. It was so intense that he couldn't sleep. I had no any medicine at the time. Then,I remembered how my mom relieved us from ear or tooth pain. Here is the fast resulting "presctiption":
You will need:
A piece of cloth or a hand towel that is large enough to cover the area, and an iron.
Procedure:Heat the cloth or the towel with the iron (make sure that the heat of the iron is at the MINIMUM LEVEL. Otherwise, overheated cloth/towel may burn the area).
Then, put this heated cloth/towel on the ear or tooth. Repeat the process as needed.
REMEMBER:This is a TEMPORARY remedy. If the pain is persistant and/or lasts hours non-stop, you may need to see a physician or a dentist, because in some severe infectious cases, heat may work adversly.
I hope this one works for those who need a practical home-remedy.
GOOD LUCK

Steam for the ear

Demi Rivera in New York, USA - best
I had a horrible ear infection for one whole day. I couldn't sleep at night or anything. So I decided that enough was enough and I had to get rid of this pain. I jumped into the bath tub and just sat there for a few and I took a washcloth wet it with warm water and held it outside of my ear. I was suprised at how fast it was working. My ear just kept on making a bubbling noise and opening up every few mins. Now I can hear in my left ear and nomore pain!

- hope this helps :)

Lemon Juice & Peroxide

Cheryl in Indiana USA - best
Mix equal parts Lemon juice and Hydrogen peroxide, heat slightly (I used the microwave for 10 seconds) make sure to check the temp first. Then put a few drops into the ear. Let it sit in the ear for a minute or so then allow it to drain out. I also applied some heat (a sock filled with rice and put in the microwave to make warm) while letting it drain. This helps it to drain out quicker.

Hydrogen Peroxide works awesome on earache!!

Lee in Martin, MI - best
I was having pain from my left ear after using earplugs at work. I read on a health website to put a small amount of hydrogen peroxide in your ear and wait for 15 minutes or so. I just took a small baby dropper and put about a half teaspoon of peroxide in my ear. I did this while laying on my side with the offending ear pointed toward the ceiling. After that I just watched TV for about 15 minutes. I could feel/hear the bubbling action in the ear.

Once this was done, I walked into the bathroom and let what peroxide was left in my ear drain into the sink. Then I took the baby dropper and filled it with warm water. I then jetted the water into my ear to clear it out. Upon doing this, I found a nasty black chunk of something in the sink, yup it was huge and it was in my ear canal. Immediately after doing this, my ear felt like a million bucks. No more ringing or pain at all.
The moral of the story is this, junk gets into your ear canal when you jam things into them. Earplugs and qtips have got to be the top offenders. Keep your ears clean and they will work a lot better.

Heat

Lindsey in melbourne, Florida - best
I am 11 years old and I have a left ear infection. My ear is very plugged up and I can't hear out of it. When I am sleeping my ear infection keeps rupturing and bleeding. When I wake up in the morning my ear gets all crusty. My doctor gave me some medicine but he said it should start to work in a few days and it has been five days and the pain still hasn't gone away.

I am in soooo much pain right now. I tried heated up a gel pack and putting it on my ear and that seems to help. Just don't get the inside of your ear wet. Also you can put a sandwich plastic bag full of hot water and set that on your ear and that seems to help. I hope you feel better whioever is reading this and I hope this works!! This remdy also helps soothe the pain.

Xylitol, Hydrogen Peroxide and Hygiene

Chelsea, RN in Wisconsin USA - good
Pick a type of gum or food item with the Xylitol ingredient. (Gum works better because chewing gum opens up your ear canals!) Take gum like Stride or Trident w/Xylitol and chew at least one piece per hour. Accompany that with Q-Tip application of Hydrogen Peroxide in the ear and lay down for a little while. Lift your head up slowly after about 20 minutes to a half hour and you will feel your ears clearing (if not before that!!!). DO NOT POP YOUR EARS WHEN YOU HAVE AN EAR INFECTION!!!! This could do much more damage....or end up swelling your ear canals creating pain and discomfort.
If you're still having problems with your ear, take a hot shower or place a steamy washcloth over ear. Do not apply Hydrogen Peroxide more than 2 times a day, as you do not want to wear away the vital tissues inside of your ear.

Make sure to be cleaning your ears daily while experiencing the infection and also BRUSH YOUR TEETH 3X DAILY. Use an antiseptic mouthwash like Listerine. Harmful bacteria in the mouth can enter your nasal cavities or throat, which lead to your sinuses, which lead to your ears.

If your glands in your neck are causing your pain, try massaging right behind and below your earlobes. This breaks up the fluid in your ear and sinuses and helps relieve pressure.

Danger of garlic clove in ear remedy

eb in Hawaii - best
I placed a peeled clove of garlic in my right ear to cure a 6 week ear infection. I left the garlic for 2 hours. One hour after taking it out the right side of my face went numb. That evening I woke up with extreme vertigo and tinnitus (ringing in my ear). 3 weeks later and I still wake up with some vertigo and ringing makes it difficult to sleep. I would not suggest using this remedy and just hope this goes away (although the ringing could remain for life according to some doctors).

EAR INFECTION CURE WITH NO DROPS OR MEDICINE

Nick L. in Walker, MI - best
I have found the best remedy for ear infections ever!!!!
Just use a hair dryer on your ear for 15 minutes or so. The hairdryer that I used worked best on high from about an arms length away. When it was on low speed, I had to hold it too close and it was too loud, so I turned it up and held it farther away. It was actually very comfortable and the ear infection was gone the next morning.

Deffinately try this cure.

Olive Oil and Garlic

Rachael Allen in Berkeley, CA - best
Chop garlic cloves and allow the small pieces to marinate in the olive oil for a day. The mixture smells awful but the ear infection will be gone within 2 days. Also works well for the common cold.
