Home-Made Citrus Tea!
Jana in Florida, USA -
I cut up an orange and a lime, you can use a lemon if you want. ( wash them first and slice them, leave the rines on them), put it in a tea kettle with water, and let it boil. Once it starts boiling and is hot enough to drink add about 3 tbsp of bottled lemon juice, (also add a little sugar if you have a soar throat, it tends to sooth the throat). Pour yourself a cup and start drinking. Also this may sound crazy but bundle yourself up in a bunch of clothes, sweat pants, sweat shirt, thick socks and slippers and definatly a hat (told you it sounds nutz , but hey this really works) No matter what time of year it is do this and begin drink the tea, by sweatting this will help to push the illness out of the body and make you feel better quick! You may have to repeat drinking the tea a couple times a day for only one day tho, just make sure you drink the whole kettle of tea and Make sure you have a couple boxes of tissues close tho, you will def need them!!! THIS WORKs!!!

Sinus Rinse with GSE
Mammajenni in Florida -
Use a NeilMed Sinus Rinse or Neti Pot (you can find both at a drug store) with the following solution:
1 tsp. non-iodized salt
1/2 pinch baking soda
5 drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract
(find GSE @ healthfood store)
Irrigate your sinus according to the instructions found on the Neti pot or NeilMed at LEAST 3x per day. more if you are able. Don't stop as soon as you are feeling better - continue on for 3 more days or up to 10 days total, to be sure you don't get a rebound infection, like finishing a course of antibiotics :)
If you have children, rinse your sinus in front of them so they see that is is no big deal. Even small children can use the Neil Med contraption with relative ease and it helps them get to sleep without a stuffy nose.

Sinus Irrigation
Mike in CT, USA -
2 cups warm water, 1 tsp sea salt and 1/2 tsp baking soda "inhaled" through a Neti pot every day. This keeps the mucus thin and cleans out inhaled dust, pollen, etc. After working in a dusty job (raking leaves, sawing wood...) I do this right away to avoid sinus problems. If nasal linings are swollen and breathing difficult, add ~1 tsp table sugar into the solution.

Onion Inhalation
Marco Vespignani, ND in Davis, CA -
Take a red or white onion (the more potent the better), cut in half and heat either in microwave for 15-60 seconds, or steam for 2-4 minutes. Once heated, place half cut side up under nose and inhale deeply. This can be done to tolerance or until the onion cools. Repeat with other half.
Also works well for ear infections by placing ear near the heated onion. Careful to never touch the heated onion to your skin as it can burn.

Neti pot and Echinacea/golden seal tablets
Amy in Albuquerque, NM -
Daily use of a Neti pot/other sinus irrigator can aleviate or reduce sinus congestion. When a sinus infection is apparent or developing, mix 3/4 cup sea salt and 2 tablets of good name brand echinacea and goldenseal: use 1 tsp in neti pot. The obvious symptoms of the infection are gone in 2 days!(but use the rest of the salt mixture until gone anyway.)

Natural Sinus Infection Remedy Works Great!
K. Higashi in Yonkers, NY USA -
This works great for all ages including kids and baby.
Take a Q Tip and dip into a bottle of Therapeutic Sesame Oil. This oil can be purchased at asian stores or online. You do not want to use the one you cook with that smells so overpowering. This Sesame oil has a light smell and can be used in cooking but is more likely to be used for skin purposes or with this remedy.
Take the qtip and dip into the bottle of sesame oil.
Now
Swab the insides of each nostril and wipe the rest off your outside of your nose. Breathe or Inhale deeply to get the Sesame oil to the back of your sinus cavity.
Works great!
Kids are squeamish about the oil at first but often ask for it when they can't breathe as there is not taste to it and they do not have to be medicated.
This oil has Antiviral properties, Antifungal and such to heal skin ailments and can also be used as a gargle if you have a sore throat or strep throat, as it kills Strep and Staph wonderfully!
Great to have on hand if you live in an area that is suffering from the MRSA bug and such! All natural remedy that actually works.
I put it in our 5 year old's nose right before he goes to school so I know that whatever he breathes in at school gets killed and he is not sicker coming home than when he left... if he is sick at all.
This works very well if you are on airplanes too as it is confined space and this protects your nose since germs are breathed in most often through the nose.
Give a try and Feel the difference!
Good Luck!
