Relieve sinus pain

Kim in Mississipi - best
Get a bath towel, preferably a thinner one. Fold towel over once in the middle then fold from side to side, then fold over three times to make a square. Put towel in sink and run hot water over towel until completly soaked. Wring out towel and place into a microwave for 3-4 minutes or until steam is coming from the towel. Remove the towel very carefully as steam does burn badly and will burn the skin and caused blisters if you put it on your face too hot. Let towel cool enough that you can apply it to your eyes and nose area, leave the mouth uncovered and breath deeply through the nose, while the mouth is closed. Lay on the bed if possible to do this so you can relax. If no relief the first time repeat.

It does work. Leave towel on eye and nose as long as you feel you need it. I've done this for years and told others about how much better it makes me feel afterwards. Gets rid of that headache. Just make sure that the nasal passages are covered with the towel so the steam can go inside.

Sinus Dynamics

Ashley in Westlake Village,Ca - best
I have had for numerous years on and off again sinus infection. I would say they started sometime are my 18th birthday. I have tried EVERYTHING, from allergies shots to surgery to neti pots and i have felt zero relief. I cant remember the last time I really smelt anything. About six months ago my ENT put me on this program called Sinus Dynamics. This is a medication that is nebulized into almost a mist for and is inhaled to the actual sinus infection. I felt relief almost instantly. My doctor had me on an anti-inflammatory as well as a antibiotic. I usually do it about once a day and it keeps me sane until my next treatment ( and its only 5 min of my day !!)

I hope this offers you some sort of help.

Good luck

Relieve Pressure in your stuffy nose.

Jessie in Colorado - best
Hold a thumbs up sign then bring it back towards you directly to the spot in between your eyebrows. Apply firm pressure and knead this area while you take your tongue and massage the roof of your mouth firmly by pushing your tongue up. This causes a bone in your nasal cavity to rock which clears your stuffy nose.

Do this sitting down, then stand up and walk around for a bit and you should feel your nose clear up.

I hope this works for you!

Garlic and Tea tree oil so I could breath through my nose

Barry McClelland in Brantford On Canada - best
This is so simple and fast! On New Years Eve I was out at a party and I was coming down with a sinus infection rather fast. By the end of the night I couldn't breath through my nose. A friend suggested I take some garlic. I did that right 1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic after putting some Tea tree oil on my nose. My nose cleared in under a minute, I could easily breath through my nose!

Dr. Nealmd sinus rinse system

Gayle in Albany, GA - best
The ENT DR. had this box for me at the counter and told me to use it.It is by NEALMED;($12-14) It is as plastic bottle with a top that has a straw in it and it squirts up like a geyser. It comes with salt and soda packets like the netti pot does.It is very gentle. Everyone that has bought one of these swears by it. the netti pot is good but cumbersome. The whole family uses it. When I run out of pkts. I use sea salt (1/4 tsp) to filtered water and warm for 30 sec. in microwave. (read his directions on the box)Try Walgreens or Target.

Baking Soda & Salt water drops

Anonymous in Los Angeles, CA - best
I recently got over a bad sinus infection and bronchitus. I took Ceftin (antibiotics) and it cleared..for about a week..a couple of days ago my sinuses were completely clogged. I mixed 1 cup of water (8oz.) with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and baking soda. Take a syringe, the kind used to clear a babies nose. Drop some of the solution down each nosril with head tilted back and then tilt head forward as if you were bending over to your feet. This will help solution to filter through sinuses. Blow your nose after each rinse and rinse 3 times. You will feel the solution reach your throat with your head tilted back - and thats when you know you have cleared your sinus.

The Multi-pronged Approach

Ella McBroome in Seattle, WA - best
I have had several sinus infections and they are terrible... I sympathize with you! The painful, burning sinus cavities, aching teeth, headache, sore throat, painful ears, congestion would reduce even the strongest of us to tears. But it is well known that antibiotics are over-prescribed and should be reserved ONLY for the worst infections, when all else has failed.

Here are the natural remedies I have tried that have helped. Remember: the name of the game is patience. You can't cure yourself in half an hour as some people here have suggested. It goes without saying that in addition to these remedies, you'll need to sleep and eat well and drink plenty of fluids.

1. Use the Neti pot twice daily. I use a combination of salt, warm water, and other additives, such as baking soda, Netiwash brand solution (containing grapefruit seed extract), a few drops of grapefruit seed extract, a splash of Bragg's unfiltered cider vinegar, or a few drops of lemon juice. Many of these things are acidic antifungals/antibacterials. You might also try a drop of tea tree oil, a proven antibacterial. But go gently -- you don't want to burn your sinuses and increase the inflammation.

2. This remedy is disgusting but it helps: finely chop 1-2 cloves raw garlic. Sprinkle liberally with salt and try to swallow quickly, with a chaser of apple or orange juice to take away the taste/odor. Garlic has known antibiotic qualities. It will help fight the infection and will help your body ward off secondary infection. Just apologize to friends about the smell and tell them it's for your health. If garlic upsets your stomach, eat some food before hand.

3. Drink several cups of this spicy tea (especially if your infection is accompanied by a sore throat): Grate an inch or two of raw ginger into a pan and add 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil. let steep for several minutes. Add a tablespoon or two of honey (preferably raw). Squeeze half a lemon into the mix and drink. If it is too strong for you, add a cup or more boiling water to dilute. The ginger will serve to stimulate your immune system and the water will hydrate you. The steam will allow sinuses to drain and the lemon offers vitamin C & acid for the throat. The honey will mollify your throat, too. You can't lose with this one.

4. Bring 10 - 12 cups of water to a boil in a large pot. Throw in a couple of smashed garlic cloves and a bunch of brown cloves from the spice cabinet (clove oil is a known antiviral and analgesic), add 1 tablespoon of unfiltered cider vinegar. Put the pot on a table and breathe in the steam for 15 minutes with a towel over your head. This will drain your sinuses and help kill the infection. If you have no time, at very least take a hot shower.

5. Take immune support supplements of your choice. I highly recommend taking 3 Wellness Tablets every 4-6 hrs. These are by Source Naturals and available at Whole Foods and other vitamin shops. They have garlic, cayenne, goldenseal, ginger, astragalus, mullein, elderberry extract (an antiviral) and a whole host of other herbal immune supporters. Finally, I'll take two "Host Defense" capsules each day, which stimulate the NKCs (natural killer cells) in the immune system. These consist of a variety of harmless species of freeze dried mushrooms. The Chinese have known about their healing properties for centuries. The brand is New Chapter Organics.

Even if you think such supplements & remedies sound like hooey, at least they will do no harm to you, unlike antibiotics. Antibiotics may kill the infection if it is bacterial, but they are worthless against viruses. And they kill all the good bacteria in our intestines, impairing our immune system! It seems to me that the more antibiotics we take, the more the body will need them when it is under attack by future infections. If we allow our body time to heal itself, we will have strengthened our immune system for the future. Please think twice before using antibiotics.

I wish all of you sinus sufferers a rapid return to health. I swear that these things will speed your recovery if for no other reason than that you'll be taking time to care for yourself! But they really are effective. If you are not better within 7-10 days, consider going to the doctor to be sure there is nothing more serious going on. Sometimes an infection is more than we can handle alone.
Cheers.

Sinus Infection Cure

Wendy Jackson in Utah - best
Two ways that cure my sinus infection...
Go to wallgreens and buy their netti pot. It comes with little packets of salt and baking soda. Follow directions except add 1 tsp of 3% peroxide to the solution and use as directed.
Clears infection in a couple days and also clears alleries in the nose.

Netti pots are also found at your local Walmart in the pharmacy.

Or you can make your own solution using 1tsp Salt, Soda and peroxide. If it stings increase the salt another 1/2 tsp. Using warm, not hot or cool as they will sting. Using warm water and a nasal spray dispenser or netti pot. Clears up infection in a couple days.
