Use an ample amount of A&D diaper rash ointment every time you change the babies diaper and you should never have a baby with diaper rash!

Triple paste
dee in alabama -Sometimes rashes just happen, triple paste, which can be purchased at just about any store, works wonderfully, much beter than any other ointment or cream.

Anonymous in Iowa -I was so happy that someone commented on vaseline not being a "natural cure". Please, please, please switch to naturals/organics (there is a difference between the 2)and really educate yourselves on how safe the products our government approves really are--many are banned in other countries. You and your baby may still break out from natural/organics if extremely sensitive, but I am positive putting cancer-causing products onto adult or child's skin (it will be absorbed into bloodstream)is not something we would view as nurturing. California Baby products are a fav of mine if you'd like to go the route of commercial products. They often contain calendula which someone did mention worked for their child. More expensive, but that's because they are not using the cheap, dangerous, synthetic stuff. Another note: even products sold in natural health food stores can have unhealthy ingredients, such as parabens. Know your stuff and check labels.

A & D Ointment
Barb Nudi in New Lenox, IL -I have found both with my children and my Grandaughter that A&D ointment works wonders. Heals very fast. Try it. Even good for adults if you have a rash.

Cooking Oil
Abbey in Las Vegas, NV -Just about any cooking oil that you have in your kitchen will help diaper rash!
I used it when I ran out of cream, My son had it bad with the bumps and everything. My grandmother told me to use any cooking oil that I have in the kitchen cabinet, I had corn oil and I used it ones. It worked better than the cream I use!

NO VASELINE
Anonymous in Algonquin, IL -I'm not exactly sure how you can list vaseline in a post for "natural cures." Vaseline is made from petroleum. I would NEVER put petroleum on an adult, let alone a baby.

Grapefruit seed extract works wonders!
Jessica in Maryland -First of all, I noticed one person mention using sugar. I would highly recommend NOT doing that. If your little one has a yeast rash, that sugar will absolutely make it spread (yeast thrives on sugar).
Put a few drops of grapefruit seed extract in a tablespoon of olive, vegetable, almond oil, or aloe vera and apply to the bum. You can also put a few drops into a teaspoon of water and use cotton balls to apply. It has no side effects, is natural, and completely biodegradable. Also, for a yeast diaper rash, it works wonders since it is a natural antifungal.
Change your baby often. Allow them to go diaper free whenever possible.

Powdered sugar and vaseline
Sharon Patterson in Wyoming -Mix a cup of powdered sugar with a tablespoon of vaseline and mix well.I worked in a hospital 40 years ago and they used this in the nursery.

CORN STARCH is GOLD
KM in NH -I was the youngest child, and had no experience with babies. My first baby was covered with really red, horrible diaper rash, and I was desperate.
I took her to the Dr. who gave us all kinds of ointments, and baby powders - NONE of which worked - at all, and it just kept getting worse and worse. She was crying all the time, and I was desperate.
An old man at work suggested I try Corn Starch. I didn't hold out much hope, but I was desperate, so I tried it.
WOW!!! I can't tell you how fast, and thoroughly it worked! I never had any diaper rash on my daughter again, or my sons that I had after.
I've used Corn starch on myself, and my whole family, to keep us all dry and heat rash free, ever since.
Cheap, easy, and it works better than anything else I've ever tried. (And, I've subsequently learned that Talcum Powder is bad for you, and you should never use it on a baby.)
Corn starch also has the advantage of absorbing smells, so I just toss in a pinch of some expensive powder I was given as a gift, and it spreads to the whole box of corn starch within a day. I've had the same smell for years, with only the one original box of expensive powder. (You can smear a bit of nice smelling lotion or perfume on the lid of a container of corn starch, to alter the smell, too.)
I LOVE corn starch and use it every single day.

susan hatcher in Amarillo, TX -Take some flour burn it on the stove might have a bad odor but this works let it cool completely then apply it to the baby or adult last for days..
